What we collect, and what we refuse to

Last updated 10 October 2026. This notice is given in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

The short version. We collect your email address if you give it to us, and whatever our payment provider needs to process a sale. We do not collect any personal information about children at all. We do not sell or share your details.

Who we are

EduSource Room is a South African sole trading partnership operated by two practising teachers. For any privacy question, including access, correction or deletion requests, write to hello@edusourceroom.co.za.

What we collect

  • Your email address, if you ask for a free resource or subscribe. Only with your explicit consent, given by ticking an unticked box.
  • Order information when you buy — your name, email and what you bought. Card details are handled entirely by our payment provider and never reach us.
  • Basic, anonymous site statistics — which pages are visited. Not tied to you.

What we never collect

We do not collect, store or process any personal information about a child. No names, ages, grades, schools, photographs or samples of work. POPIA treats children's information as requiring special protection, and the simplest way to protect it is not to hold it.

If you email us something containing your child's details, we will answer your question and then delete it.

Why we hold it, and for how long

Your email address is used to send what you asked for and occasional notes about new resources. Order records are kept as long as tax law requires. Nothing else is kept longer than it is useful.

Who we share it with

Only the providers needed to run the business — our payment processor and our email provider. They act on our instructions. We never sell your information to anyone.

Your rights

  • Withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time — every email has a one-click link
  • Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa

Direct marketing

We only email people who have explicitly opted in, or who have bought from us. Every message has an unsubscribe link, and we honour it immediately.

Security

Our site is served over HTTPS. We hold as little as possible, which is the strongest protection available to a business our size.
